Can I stay in my house?
Yes. Until a
foreclosure action is completed, a new deed issued and
ownership transferred, you retain all rights as a property
owner. No one is permitted to trespass on your property
or to insist that you allow them access. However,
during the time a foreclosure action is pending, it is wise to
undertake the following actions:
- Seek legal advice since foreclosure is a legal
proceeding
- Follow the progress of your case on the common pleas
court website
- Begin making the important decision: Can you
afford the house or must you move on. If you believe
you could afford the premises, and that you experienced a
"one time" drop in income, you should work hard to reach an
agreement with your lender or round up enough funds to
"reinstate" your mortgage. If you cannot afford the
home, you should carefully explore a sale.
